It’s so easy for us to jump to conclusions and tell ourselves a story about a situation or what “might be going on in someone else’s head”. We often act as though we are certain of what they are thinking. It’s just not true. To mitigate the embarrassment that comes with jumping to conclusions and making accusations or incorrect statements, asking questions first gets us out of that mess. I certainly have made messes myself by making assumptions and stories about what others might be thinking. I always feel better when I ask questions first.
