Iteration vs. Perfection: Embracing Progress Over Perfection

November 30, 2023

In my journey as an entrepreneur, I’ve danced with both perfection and iteration. And let me tell you, obsessing over perfection is like chasing a mirage. It looks all shiny and promising, but it can lead you into a desert of stagnation. The real magic happens when we embrace iteration – it’s where the party is at!

Every groundbreaking business you know didn’t just pop up as a perfect, finished product.

Think about it. They evolved, stumbled, picked themselves up, and improved. That’s iteration. It’s not about getting it perfect on the first try; it’s about evolving, adapting, and getting better with each step. It’s about being real and raw with your process.

Iteration is where we learn the juicy stuff – about our market, our customers, and ourselves.

It’s where we get our hands dirty and hearts open. Every tweak, every change, every little improvement is a step towards something bigger and better. And guess what? This journey of iteration is way more exhilarating than the pursuit of some elusive perfection.

Sharing this iterative journey is also super powerful. It’s like telling the world, “Hey, it’s okay to be a work in progress.” It inspires others to take that leap, to experiment, to innovate. It creates this awesome ripple effect where everyone’s learning, growing, and pushing boundaries.

So, let’s ditch the notion of perfection as the end-all-be-all.

It’s a mirage, remember? Let’s celebrate every iteration, every little win. It’s these small steps that lead to massive leaps in our businesses and in society. Let’s keep iterating, keep improving, and most importantly, keep having fun with it.

Remember, it’s not about the destination; it’s about the journey. And this journey of iteration – it’s a wild, rewarding ride that helps not just us, but everyone around us to move forward. So, let’s keep the party going, one iteration at a time!
